mod_rewrite comes enabled by default in cPanel.
Mod_rewrite is active by default, you can test if you use htaccess to sites.
These are no longer statically compiled modules.

You can use the "http -M" command to verify that Mod_Rewrite is compiled with Apache (it's enabled by default with cPanel):
