what is your experience with OVH ip addresses being blacklisted on major RBLs and at Microsoft?

On 20th December OVH got a /24 listed at Spamhaus RBL because some spammers used some other IP addressess in this range for their activity.

A week later - this block is still blacklisted with apparently no actions being taken by OVH. Despite filing ticket to support and writting to OVH abuse whole range is still blacklisted with no message from OVH what actions were conducted. After a brief talk on december 24 OVH provided a new range of IPs to me, but the whole range was already at Microsofts blacklist (“Blocked due to user complaints or other evidence of spamming” at Smart Network Data Service) - i.e. not really usefull to send any emails from. I did order additional Failover IP only to find out that they are blocked as-well.

To add insult to injury it seams that polish OVH branch is having a day off today as every attempt to phone call them (since they aren’t answering to support cases filed through panel) ends with IVR saying “this option is currently unavailable. please file a support case instead”.
Anyone is facing the same problems or have any idea what can I do to make OVH do their work and ensure every party involved that they can handle abuse complaints properly?

-------------------------------------

OVH is currently listed as the world's 6th worst ISP for spam proliferation by SpamHaus. They have listed on their website:

ovh.net is currently providing bulletproof hosting to botnet operators, by ignoring abuse reports and multiple reminders sent by Spamhaus and 3rd parties. We therefore consider networks that are operated by ovh.net as harmful and risky for Spamhaus SBL users and advise our users to not accept any traffic from ovh.net IP

Yep OVH is a spammers haven and probably accounts for 50% of the crap hitting up my mail servers. Best to block them entirely.

I know the system is fine, its a KVM from a server I had with Hetzner that ran fine for months, I move it to OVH and bang, thats it, problems!

I suffer from it now because the entire AS number is blocked by OVH, for my part I take care of clean e-mails, but I suffer from the fact that OVH does not control or have other systems under control, but that cannot be possible.

Other providers, i.e. your competition, can manage that too. Example Hetzner, this hoster also has 2.5 million IP addresses and is “observed” by the UCE blacklist, but is nowhere near as high for AS blocking as OVH. Comparison: OVH SPAM Score UCE: 90% Hetzner SPAM Score UCE: 25% It would be nice if OVH could comment on this at once. If there is no improvement, I will be forced to terminate all of my products at OVH and host my servers elsewhere.

I cannot represent that customers cannot deliver e-mails because OVH cannot get their SPAM problem under control. And to communicate that serious blacklists should be queried and IPv6 should be used is probably no solution! Especially not if the other side doesn’t even offer IPv6! Likewise, I cannot tell the other side (although they are usually not in direct contact with me) but please do not use UCE as a blacklist, that can’t really be the OVH solution! Others hosters amazon, hetzner etc. are not blocked

have 2 dedicated servers @OVH for about a year now. My experience from ordered IP’s (about 200, multiple small ranges) is pretty simple. They were all blacklisted before recieving them. OVH support team puts the blaim on me, even after showing them the IP’s were blacklisted months before I had the IP’s (or even the servers for that matter). It seams it is up to us to fix the reputation from previous owners.

So we have to request delist in some instances. We also have to delist it @microsoft as described by MaG. And YES, that fixes the mail not being delivered (delivery failure notices). It does NOT fix the spam issue. All mail goes directly to spam/junk folders in Outlook/Microsoft/Hotmail/… Our mail servers configuration is flawless, also according to tools like mxtoolbox, pingdom and mail-tester.com52. We have correct rDNS, SPF, DKIM, DMARC. It’s all there!

--------------------------------------------

Many of the e-mails I send to my customers end up in spam. This is usually the first email I send to someone. Or someone writes to me asking for an offer, I write back and it ends up in spam. When we exchange a few messages, it’s okay, but often one will end up in spam again. As a result, I lost many interested parties who noticed my meil in spam after a month and reported the problem to me. Unfortunately, not seeing my answers, they decided to work with someone else.

-----------------------------------------------

I am having the SAME issue, but it’s been going on for 7 months. All email being sent from my server going to Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail, AOL, US Government servers, etc. are going to spam/junk. I have contacted outside sever help and they say the OVH IP block that my server is on is associated as a known spammer. My IP is clear and not blocked/banned. I also contacted cPanel so the can look into it and they say the SAME exact thing. They suggested I get a new IP address for the server and try again.
